Dr. Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi, a 36-year old doctor from Zarqa, Jordan, alleged to have carried out the Khost attack in which Ali bin Zaid, a Jordanian intelligence officer, was also killed.

Zaki Bani-Irshayd, Muslim Brotherhood Shura Council member and former secretary general of the Islamic Action Front Party has expressed surprise at the presence of Jordanian forces in Afghanistan.

In a statement yesterday, he noted that the “discovery” of what he called the Jordanian role in Afghanistan “adds more question marks regarding the Jordanian foreign policy.”

Bani-Irshayd condemned what he called keeping the Jordanian people “in the dark” regarding the nature of the activities carried out by their country’s forces, noting that the “inept” US policy in Iraq and Afghanistan “is suffering additional losses.”

He stressed that “there is no Jordanian interest in entering losing battles” and urged the government to “disclose all the circumstances regarding the activities of the Jordanian forces abroad.”

He said that the Jordanian people “strongly oppose the policy of intervening in external conflict led by the US occupation forces and sympathize with the just Arab and Islamic causes.”

He added: “The Jordanian Government should carry out its duties regarding the increasing Zionist aggressions in Jerusalem.” He noted that the Zionist entity “still threatens Jordanian interests,” a matter that “should be given priority” according to him.
