Afghanistan finally has an air force

AW: Ares | By Robert Wall | 14 June

Up to now, the service operating assets such as the Mi-17s and C-27s has been called the Afghan National Army Air Corps. But U.S. Air Forces Central now points out that a name change has taken place under which the service is now the air force.

It is still the Afghan National Army Air Force, so there is one more step to go to completely embrace the U.S. naming and reporting model.

The Afghan air force is launched with 48 aircraft and 3,300 personnel, with a plan to grow to 146 aircraft and 8,000 personnel.
