Exterminate all the brutes — Ralph Peters

A pillar of the Jewish Lobby in the United States of America, the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA) has extremely close links with the security establishment, including with serving civil and military officials, in America. JINSA publishes the Journal of International Security Affairs which, in its latest issue (Sprin 2009, No. 16), carries an article by Ralph Peters (of the balkanised Pakistan map fame):

Pretending to be impartial, the self-segregating personalities drawn to media careers overwhelmingly take a side, and that side is rarely ours. Although it seems unthinkable now, future wars may require censorship, news blackouts and, ultimately, military attacks on the partisan media. Perceiving themselves as superior beings, journalists have positioned themselves as protected-species combatants. But freedom of the press stops when its abuse kills our soldiers and strengthens our enemies. Such a view arouses disdain today, but a media establishment that has forgotten any sense of sober patriotism may find that it has become tomorrow’s conventional wisdom.

The point of all this is simple: Win. In warfare, nothing else matters. If you cannot win clean, win dirty. But win. (Emphasis added.)

In principle, Ron Edwards, the founder of the Imperial Klansmen of America (IKA), would probably agree:

If you’re fighting an enemy you give them no mercy. Whether it’s a Puerto Rican, Jew or whatever, you give them no mercy.  I believe that we are twelve tribes of Israel and the Jews are the children of Satan.  And if every Jew died in the world I’d probably jump up and down and laugh and dance on their grave. (Emphasis added.)

In his blog of May 22, 2009 Jeremy Scahill provides convincing evidence that this is not idle talk; journalists have been targetted and killed by the United States for some time now, with authorization going all the way up to the US President (see also, Kill the Journalists):

Lest people think that the views of people like Ralph Peters and the JINSA/PNAC neocons are relics of the past, remember that the Obama administration includes heavy hitters from this world among its ranks, as well as fierce neocon supporters. While they may no longer be literally calling the shots, as they did under Bush/Cheney, their disproportionate influence on U.S. policy endures.

In fact, in so far as the military establishment is concerned, they are pretty much calling the shots. As posted earlier, US National Security Adviser, General James Jones, like Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz, among others, is the recipient of the 1999 Keeper of the Flame Award of the Likud-minded Center for Security Policy, founded by a protégé of notorious neo-conservative, Richard Perle. Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff (since August 2007), Admiral Michael Mullen, holds a distinguished service award from JINSA; and the issue of their journal that carries Ralph Peters’ article, also carries an article by Admiral Eric T. Olson, Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), who will oversee the over $ 50 billion budget for “black operations” proposed for FY 2010. Admiral Olson writes:

Capturing and killing adversaries will always be necessary, but we will not kill or capture our way to victory. Nor will we talk our way to victory. The key to long-term success in a global campaign against terrorism lies in changing behavior.

As his article shows, the distance between Olson and Peters is not great. (Olson also advocates “Persistent Engagement” which an earlier post suggests may well be the emerging Obama Doctrine.)
